There are journeys that teach technique.
And there are journeys that teach you how to see.
This Peru textiles pilgrimage is an 11-day immersion into the Sacred Valley of the Andes — a gentle, relational exploration of Andean weaving, natural dyeing, colour, and living textile tradition.
No prior weaving experience is needed.
We travel slowly.
We sit with cloth.
We listen to the land.

In the Andes, textiles are not decoration — they are embodied.
Cloth carries memory, cosmology, identity, and belonging. Pattern becomes landscape. Colour becomes story. Thread becomes lineage.
Through guided practice and conversation, you will learn traditional backstrap weaving and the pick-up technique known as pallay. You will explore how woven designs reflect duality, balance, ancestry, and the structure of the cosmos.
This is about relationship.

During our natural dye workshop, we enter the ancestral art of drawing colour directly from the living landscape.
Plants, roots, minerals, and cochineal pigment become rich reds, ochres, golds, and deep earth tones. You will learn how colour is prepared, fixed, and held fast in fibre — a slow alchemy shaped by patience and knowledge.
Colour emerges through relationship.

A highlight of the journey is time spent with the Accha Alta Quechua community, where weaving is part of home life.
We share food, conversation, spinning practices, and time on the land. We explore how textiles express belonging — how cloth quietly communicates gender, status, ceremony, and social identity.
Our intention is to develop a respectful exchange with this beautiful community.

Our journey coincides with the Andean celebration of Mamacha Asunta — a devotional festival of masked dancers, music, procession, and community joy.
Experiences unfold according to local rhythms. We step into celebration gently, as guests.
