Soul Retrieval

Journeying into the underworld can help us to understand what’s holding us: repeating patterns of behaviour that don’t serve us, realising that something is missing from our life but not sure what it is… we gain understanding and compassion from this process and enable ourselves to move on.

In this Shamanic tradition, we journey to the three main worlds: Lower/the underworld (Ukhu Pacha), the middle world (Kay Pacha) and the upper world (Hanaq Pacha). Our intention is to retrieve any fragmented parts of ourselves that are trapped in the time when we were wounded. In each of these worlds it’s also possible to find a power animal relating to the issue you’re working on.

Soul retrieval can help us to reclaim all the precious energy available to us for life. It is especially good for working with traumatic episodes, as you don’t need to re-visit the wounding and potentially re-trigger anything.

Costs

Each session is up to two hours long and costs £130. Most people will have three sessions.  It helps that you are clear about what you want to work with.

The first session would really about tracking your energy field on four different levels: Physical, emotional, soul and spirit. Then, a bespoke  plan will be created, depending on your requirements. Please be aware that most people will have three sessions or more.

After the first session, you should feel lighter as we do an illumination and some extraction work if necessary. This, coupled with a trusting therapeutic relationship will pave the way towards some deeper work together.

Soul Work

Soul work is an important part of the healing process.

If the healing is instantaneous, the understanding comes later. This is your journey, we can help clear the way, but you must walk the path. To make the most of your shamanic session you will be asked to do some soul work. This will assist in the integration of the energy shifts that occurred during your sessions.

Time Spent in Nature

Spending regular time in nature will help you gain a deeper connection with this work and with the beauty of the seasonal cycles. With our feet on the earth, we have the perfect foundation for soul work to begin.

Meditation

It’s wise to have a meditation practice. There are many forms. Find one that works well for you.

Sand Painting

These are often used during and after a session to help the shift continue it’s momentum. Ideally they are made outside on the earth, if that’s not possible, use your imagination and find a space inside your home or on your patio. (The underlining of a flowerpot filled with soil or sand works well) You can use objects found in nature or bring items to the sand painting that have special meaning regarding what you’re working on. It’s good to have some burnable items. Open sacred space (see invocation in the ceremonies section). Make a circle (spirit ring) large enough to put your objects inside. Stones, leaves or twigs work well for this, but follow your intuition. If you decide to take a living plant (leaf, flower, berry, etc) make sure to ask permission and give thanks to the spirit of that plant. You will be placing objects into this ring based on the issues you are working on. Again, follow your intuition; listen to your inner voice. Visit your sand painting regularly. See what changes have occurred; make changes if you feel drawn to doing that. Trust yourself, you will sense when it’s time to finish. When you want to dissemble it, take out the burnable items for your sacred fire and return the rest to nature. When you leave it, there should be no evidence that a sand painting was there. Close sacred space and bring the burnable items to sacred fire.

Salt Baths

These help to continue the release of heavy energy from the luminous body. Use one cup of natural sea salt plus one cup of baking powder or just Epsom salts in a very hot bath. Soak for at least 20 minutes. Use this time to meditate and intentionally allow more release. Maybe even light some candles or play relaxing music. Then rinse with fresh water. Does not let anyone else use this water; this is best done before bed, low alcohol during this time. Typically these are repeated every other day for the week following your session but continue the baths beyond a week if you find this helpful.

Altars

After a soul retrieval, it’s important to honour the return of the soul part and keep any agreements that have been made and discover how to use the gifts that have come back to you. One way of doing this is to create an altar for the soul part that has come back to you. This is simply a special place in your home, like a section of a shelf, on which you place objects that have special meaning for you in relation to the soul part. Flowers are often placed here or other ‘gifts’. Other types of altars may be suggested depending on the type of work being done. These are not for worship, but for honouring. Let yourself be led and follow your inner guidance as to what should be placed there. Honouring is an important practice and essential for stepping into the healed state. Honouring doesn’t mean accepting or agreeing with the wounding that has occurred. It simply means acknowledging without judgement, allowing it to eventually find its neutral place, the place of no electric charge.

Journal Writing

Very powerful, use diary form, poetry, prose, pictures or symbols. If you have difficulty with this, some people find it useful to start their day with ten minutes of stream of consciousness writing. Put pencil to paper and write non-stop for ten minutes. Don’t sensor your writing and don’t stop even if you repeat the same thing over and over. You can do the same type of thing with drawing without thought using coloured pencils, markers or crayons.

Dream Diary

Dreams are great teachers and informers. Train yourself to remember your dreams. Keep a dream diary by your bed with a light pen. As soon as you wake up write down whatever you can remember. Don’t move around a lot, stay still and relax. Allow dream memory to bubble up. As time goes on you will learn how to seed your dreams.
