This ceremonial scarf is woven with some synthetic materials by Benita Apaza (Pampamesayoq Don Agustin’s wife) and blessed by Don Agustin.
Contemporary ceremonial scarves are woven by Remigia (Don Santos’s wife), and other items are woven by Remigia, Sebastiana, and Rosa in Q’eros, Peru.
Most of these textiles are naturally dyed, and woven with handspun alpaca or baby alpaca wool. Girls learn to weave in their early teens, and there are very high levels of weaving, spinning, and knitting skills passed down through the generations.
