Fire Vigil & Summer Solstice Celebration at Tide Mills and June 20th, from Sunset to Sunrise

Join us at Tide Mills for a magical all-night Fire Vigil to celebrate the Summer Solstice! This is a community gathering open to all, honouring the longest day and the turning of the year with creativity, connection, and renewal.

What to Expect:

  • Fire Vigil: Gather around the fire through the night, sharing warmth, stories, and intentions as we journey from sunset to sunrise.
  • Music & Creativity: Bring musical instruments, drums, rattles, poems, and stories. Everyone is welcome to share a song, a rhythm, a poem, or simply your presence.
  • Flower Mandala on the Beach: Together, we’ll create a beautiful flower mandala on the sand, a living artwork symbolizing unity, abundance, and the cycles of nature. Please bring flowers, petals, leaves, or other natural offerings to contribute.
  • Opportunities for Rebirth: The solstice is a powerful time for renewal and transformation. We’ll hold space for gentle rituals and moments of reflection, inviting everyone to set intentions for new beginnings, let go of the old, and welcome the light of the coming season.
  • Storytelling & Sharing: As the fire burns, there will be space for storytelling, poetry, and sharing personal reflections or wishes for the months ahead.

What to Bring:

  • Drums, rattles, or other instruments
  • Poems, stories, or songs to share
  • Flowers or natural materials for the mandala
  • Warm clothes, blankets, snacks, and drinks
  • Friends, family, and an open heart
  • A torch

Let’s come together to celebrate the abundance of nature, the power of the sun, and the spirit of community. All ages and backgrounds are welcome- drop in for a while or stay all night. As dawn breaks, we’ll greet the sunrise and step into the new season, renewed and inspired.

Everyone is welcome- see you at Tide Mills on June 20th
Please allow plenty of time to arrive. If you aim to arrive by 7 pm, then you can walk to the fire site, which takes about 20 minutes, and be ready by 7 pm.
Please discuss offerings for the fire beforehand with Ali, which are other than rosemary sprigs, cinnamon sticks, dried lavender, dried flowers, tobacco, cacao, sage, small wax candles, or palo santo.
Please bring a song or a poem to share after the fire, as well as warm clothing and snacks. If you need to sit down, then it’s best to bring a blanket or a camping chair for a front row seat!. Please wear suitable footwear for the beach. Bring shakers and small hand drums-rattles if you have them.
Cost: Suggested donation £15-35 to cover materials, if this is too much, then just donate what you can.
If raining, please check with Ali by email or mobile ( enquiries@alirabjohns.co.uk / 07528 614 747) where the ceremony will be held.www.alirabjohns.com

IMPORTANT INFORMATION, PLEASE READ IT ALL!!

For the Solstice event, we cannot all take cars up to the site as parking is very limited. Please check your route before you leave. When you have parked in the Tidemills car park, you can walk towards the sea, over the railway track, and you will see us when you get to the shoreline (there will be a fire pit and a crowd of people sitting down). We will try to have people on hand to show you where to go, and it might be an adventure!

1. Please try to arrange lift shares where possible to limit the number of cars. If you are driving there and you have space, please leave a message here to offer a lift.

Parking is at the Car Park for Tidemills and the Ouse Estuary. https://maps.app.goo.gl/8VGhRQWDPWyp6Z6u6
